Has the movement began by Colin Kaepernick in response to police brutality and systematic racism become white washed?
As inspiring and empowering as it was to see the NFL players, GM’s and coaches lock arms in solidarity it stil comes short.
This act would mean so much more if it was more than just a response to Trump’s abusive and offensive rhetoric in his tweets and rallies. Trump gave these elites no other choice than to respond. They very well might have good intention, but I cannot help but wonder how many of these GM’s and coaches are actually interested in being apart of this conversation and movement. I am afraid that Trump’s rhetoric is too strong. We need these GM’s and coaches to condemn the words coming from Trump. Correct me if I am wrong, but I have only seen a few.
Colin Kaepernick began this movement as an act of dissent in order to create a disruption to allow a conversation. I think that has gotten very lost. Colin was reprimanded and in my opinion he is now being punished by not being picked up. He kneeled and he was crucified in the media and social media for months. Some of which we know now was Russian bots used to create even more tension.
It’s clear this movement has evolved, but if so then that means it is time to be held accountable. We cannot allow these movements to be white washed. The conversation has turned from police brutality, racism and accountability to a conversation about patronage and our flag and anthem. We are watching the converstation turn and doing nothing.
